Commander's Corner

Greeting Comrades,

We start off our comments on a sad note, long time Auxiliary member and friend passed away Friday Februay23rd.  Mrs. Tommie Presnell was a member of the Auxiliary for years.  Her grave site service was held on 3/2 in Lowry Crossing.  Unfortunately 2 other members that have lost close love ones, Mike Jerro lost his father and Paul Surpremant lost his mother.  Keep them and their families in your prayers.

I want to thank the Auxiliary and MG-33 for their contributions to the Post.  When we have asked for funds to improve the Post, both have stepped up.  Thanks to our members, we have reached 100% of our membership goals, as of this writing our Post is 10th out of 315 Posts.

I want to remind everyone that this month’s meeting on 3/12 that will be the start of nominations for 2018-19 Post Officers.  Elections will be on 4/9.  Anyone wanting to run please be at our meetings.  Congratulations to Ray Richardson, Ray has been nominated for District 1 District Commander.

Upcoming events in March, we have another golf tournament planning meeting on 3/5, 7pm immediately following the house committee meeting.  We are excited this year we have Scott Murray, former Sports anchor for Channel 5 for our M.C., also we will be having some former Dallas Cowboys at the tournament.  On 3/21 is our VPR Ceremony starting at 6pm, this is for Start of the Kosovo

Campaign 1999.  On 3/24 is our annual Casino Night, this has always been a fun time.  See Shelley Rule for details.  On 3/29 is our annual cooking for The Special Olympics at Ron Poe Stadium, we normally cook from 1000-1500 hotdogs.  If you want to volunteer contact Jim Caz.  Be there around 8:30am.

Jim “Nick” Nichols,

Auxiliary Corner

Hi Auxiliary members

First, condolences to the family of Mrs. Tommie Presnell.  She was a longtime friend and member of our Auxiliary and will be deeply missed by each of us that knew her.  On 3/12 is our meeting and we’ll entertain nominations for officers for the upcoming elections.  If you are interested in a position or know someone that you would like to nominate but have questions, just let me know.

The Annual Casino Night is scheduled for Saturday, 3/24 at 7pm.  The Auxiliary will be providing finger foods for this event.  You can pre-buy or sponsor a table.  There are flyers/info posted at the post or you can contact me.

Also, don’t forget dues.  If you are an annual member and do not have your dues paid by 6/30 you will lose your years of service.  This was voted and changed last year by National.  We’re at 89.25% so far!

Be sure to check the events calendar as there are several meeting and events going on.  3/29 we are cooking hot dogs for the Special Olympics, if you have time we will start at 8:30. We can use hands for wrapping dogs for these great athletes.  Our Golf tourney is coming up fast, let Commander Nichols know if you have any sponsors or time to commit.

As Always Thank You for all you do for our Veterans & families.

Saving Coupons for Veterans Families

We have been asked to save coupons from our newspaper inserts, etc., to be distributed to families of current and former veterans.  It would help if you can cut them out, but if not, just bring in the entire insert.  Give them to the person working the cantina.  Please contact Tobi Viles for additional information.
