Commander's Corner

Greeting Comrades,

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Recapping the last twelve months, we have had a very successful year. From our golf tournament, concert, and Tots For Tots, we made a lot of progress. By the way, thanks for helping us hit our goal of 100% membership by the calendar years end.

Elections are coming very soon, we need people to step up and volunteer. The commander’s position and the quartermaster position will be open.

Going into January, we have been asked to help load Girl Scout Cookies. We need help on January 11th and on January 12th. If you can help, please contact Mike Nutterfield.

Our Post meeting is scheduled for the 14th, we will also have our VPR for Vietnam Peace Accord prior to the meeting.

We are feeding the Collin County Sheriff Department on January 15th, volunteers need to be at the post by 10:00am. We will serve them from 11:00 am till 4:00 pm.

Mid-Winter Meetings in Austin are scheduled for 24th through 27th.

We are still trying to fill our cooking schedule for the new year. If you can help contact Elke.

Finally, don’t forget our Superbowl Party on February 3rd, it will start around 4:00 pm.

Jim “Nick” Nichols,

Auxiliary Corner

Hi Auxiliary members,

What a month December was!  We started off with our annual Collin County Toys 4 Tots Motorcycle ride which raised over $14,000 for the Toys 4 Tots program.   Our  Children’s Christmas Party had 50 kids in attendance! Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by  to pass out gifts.  Patients Day Out for the Bonham Veterans was held at the Post on December 16th.  A fun time was had by all!

The Auxiliary will be cooking the 1st and 4th Fridays of every month and we need volunteers to cook and serve. Sign- up sheet in back hallway at post.  Sign up for January, February and March please.

A huge THANK YOU to all who volunteered these past several months.  These events take a lot of time, energy and volunteers.  We have great members in our auxiliary and we’re always looking  new members because fresh faces bring fresh ideas!

Check your email next week for a current calendar of events for the Auxiliary.  Our next meeting is January 14th @ 6:30pm at the post.

Saving Coupons for Veterans Families

We have been asked to save coupons from our newspaper inserts, etc., to be distributed to families of current and former veterans.  It would help if you can cut them out, but if not, just bring in the entire insert.  Give them to the person working the cantina.  Please contact Tobi Viles for additional information.
