Program Overview
About the Program
Voice of Democracy is Youth Scholarship audio-essay program that provides democracy-loving High School students the opportunity to win a share of the $2.1 million offered in educational scholarships and incentives.
Winners Receive
National Winner receives a $30K scholarship. 1st Place Winner from each VFW Department wins a between $1 – $16K in scholarships. All-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students enrolled in a public, private, or parochial high school or home study program in the United States and its territories.
- Record a reading based on the designated theme that is between three and five minutes on a CD or flash drive.
- Deadline is October 31st each year.
Judging Criteria
Originality is worth 30 points. Treatment of the theme should show imagination and human interest.
Content is worth 35 points. Clearly express your ideas in an organized manner. Fully develop your theme and use transitions to move smoothly from one idea to the other.
Delivery is worth 35 points. Speak in a clear and credible manner.
